Cordis House makes its own books from first idea to launch. It takes on the same production work for a small number of outside books, published by their authors under their own names and imprints.
Structural editing and line editing, done the way every Cordis title is edited: until each page does one job and the whole book does the thing it was for.
For illustrated books: references gathered, characters and style locked, then direction spread by spread. The same process that made the 14 spreads of Hands Like Daddy’s.
Interior layout and full cover wraps built to the printer’s specification, from 8.5 by 11 inch picture books to six by nine inch business books.
Setting up an imprint of your own, an ISBN for each format, the copyright page, the metadata retailers read and, where it applies, a Library of Congress Control Number.
Print-ready files and the setup for print on demand, for Amazon and for the trade, in hardcover, paperback and ebook.
The product page, the description, the keywords, and the A+ content modules below the fold, as built for the Cordis Studio companions.
What happens before and on publication day: the reader list, the announcement letters, the order of operations.
Outside production work is selective. The house takes on a few projects at a time, and only books it would be glad to have made.
There is no price list. Each project is quoted after a conversation about what the book is and what it needs.
This is a separate thing from being published by Cordis House. A book made with these services is published by its author, under the author’s own imprint. To be published by the house, see Publish with us.
To ask about a project, write to editorial@cordishouse.com with what the book is, where it stands, and which of the seven kinds of work it needs.
